Under the patronage of his Excellency the Prime Minister Mr. Saad Hariri, 'Arab Student Starpack 2017' celebrates the creativity of Arab youth in Beirut.
Arab Student StarPack 2017 is the first regional packaging design competition in the Middle East and is open to university students in all Arab countries. This year, 1000 students, from 15 Arab countries in addition to Lebanon, participated in the competition: Egypt, Tunisia, Palestine, Jordan, Morocco, Oman, Yemen, Iraq, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Libya and Algeria.
The competition main objective was to promote creativity and innovation in this field. It included three categories: Visual Design Packaging, Structural Design Packaging and Save the Food Packaging category.

Under the Patronage of His Excellency, the Prime Minister Saad Hariri, the Lebanese Packaging Center, LibanPack, and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, (UNIDO), organized Wednesday evening, May 17, an award ceremony during which were announced the 41 Arab students winners of the first edition of the Arab StarPack competition for the Best Packaging Design, at the headquarters of the Union of Arab Chambers, in Beirut.

Many high political and economic figures attended the event including Messrs. : Adnan Kassar, President of Economic Bodies; Fouad Rahmé, Chairman of the Lebanese Businessmen Association (RDCL); Toufic Daboussi, President of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Tripoli and North Lebanon; Samir Rahal, Chairman of the National Council for Lebanese Economists; Nabil Gemayel, Chairman of LibanPack, and many others. The award ceremony was also attended by members of the diplomatic corps, namely Arab Ambassadors, including the ambassadors of Egypt, Jordan, Tunisia, Morocco, Yemen and Oman, as well as senior UN officials in Lebanon, and a large number of industrialists, businessmen and media representative along with winning students of course.

During the ceremony, speeches were addressed by HE Mr. Saad Al-Hariri represented by the Minister of Industry, HE Dr. Hussein Al-Hajj Hassan; HE the President of the World Packaging Organization, (WPO), Mr. Thomas Schneider (who came especially from the USA to attend this event); HE the Ambassador of Switzerland, Mr.François Barras; HE the Regional Representative of UNIDO, Mr. Cristiano Pasini; as well as the President of the Association of Lebanese Industrialists, Dr. Fadi Gemayel, and the Director of LibanPack, Ms. Soha Atallah.

During the event, guests had the pleasure to attend a performance by the violinist Jihad Akl, followed by the inauguration of the students’ projects exhibition.
